Meeting History
In all fields of research, sharing of data at conferences is a cornerstone of advancement of the science. However for research on the neuroscience of creativity, the sharing of this work has been widely diffused across disparate meetings and sub-disciplines. As a result, it is not uncommon for research presented at one venue to be described as ‘an entirely new direction,' when this ‘new direction’ has been described by another research team several years earlier at another venue. It is also difficult to grow consensus on issues such as terminology, best practices, and scientific priorities. A dedicated society (and annual conference), providing a unified venue for discourse across disciplines, is needed to foster important discussions about how to grow the neuroscience of creativity.

For this reason, Dr. David Beversdorf organized an initial meeting to found the Society for the Neuroscience of Creativity  on October 16, 2015 in Chicago and to form a steering committee composed of leading researchers in the field (Drs. Green, Jung, Beeman, Chrysikou, Christoff, and Kraemer).

SFNC 2017
The 3rd Meeting of the Society for the Neuroscience of Creativity will be held on Friday, March 24, 2017 in San Fransisco, CA as a satellite event to the Cognitive Neuroscience Society meeting (3/25/17-3/28/17).

Submit presentations HERE. Apply for NSF-funded travel awards HERE for students/post-docs, and education practitioners. The deadline for abstracts and travel award applications is February 1st.

Abstract submissions for posters are now open HERE. You will be asked to indicate whether you would like your abstract to be considered for presentation as a brief talk within the ‘data blitz’ session

We are pleased to announce that NSF-funded travel awards (up to $1000) are available for graduate/undergraduate students and post-docs, and for education practitioners. A pool of funding is specifically dedicated to support members of underrepresented minorities and educators who work with minority students. To apply for NSF-funded travel awards follow THIS LINK.

The deadline for abstracts and travel award applications is February 1st, 2017.

PLEASE NOTE: Registration fees of $25 for students and $50 for researchers are required to make the SFNC 2017 meeting possible. Authors who have submitted abstracts will be contacted about online payment of registration fees when registration officially opens in January.
