For our 10th Anniversary, we’re going to Paris!

About the 2025 Annual Meeting

The 2025 Annual Meeting of the Society for the Neuroscience of Creativity will take place in Paris, France on May 21-23, 2025 at the Paris Brain Institute (ICM). We are thrilled that our 10th annual meeting will be our largest event to date, and we have many exciting events planned.

SfNC 2025’s theme, Creativity & Changing Brains, will investigate how creativity both drives and is driven by changes in the brain, whether those changes occur in clinical, developmental, or everyday contexts. This theme is inspired by the history of our venue - Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital (at the Paris Brain Institute) is the location where Paul Broca’s studies of brain lesions led to his discovery of the seat of language production in the human brain and laid the groundwork for modern neuropsychology and cognitive neuroscience.

Keynotes and Featured Symposia

We are thrilled to welcome two distinguished keynote speakers to SfNC 2025:

Anna Abraham is Director of the Torrance Center for Creativity and Talent Development and Professor at the University of Georgia. Her research explores the neuroscience of imagination, creative thinking, and the interplay between cognitive and affective processes in creativity. She has made significant contributions to our understanding of how the brain supports divergent thinking and creative problem-solving across different domains.

Andreas Fink is Professor of Psychology at the University of Graz. He is known for his work on the neural and cognitive mechanisms underlying creative thinking, particularly in relation to brain activity patterns, cognitive flexibility, and the role of spontaneous thought processes in creativity. His research has provided key insights into how individual differences in brain function contribute to creative potential.

Our program will also feature:

  • "Education and the Evolution of Creative Potential" – An invited talk by Mathieu Cassotti (Paris Cité University), followed by a symposium and panel discussion on how pedagogy, cognitive development, and technology shape creativity.

  • "Paradoxical Creativity in the Changing Brain" – A talk session exploring how creative potential and expression evolve in neuropsychological disorders and clinical populations.

  • "Stimulating Creativity" – A symposium on how sleep, neuromodulation, and other psychophysiological interventions impact creative thinking.

  • Plus, a full lineup of engaging talks, poster sessions, and interactive discussions.

Plus: After the conference, join us on a péniche on the banks of the Seine for a private SfNC social to celebrate 10 years of SfNC!

Special Symposium: AI, Creativity, & A Changing World

We’ve added a special symposium on Wednesday, May 21 from 2 - 5:00 pm, titled "AI, Creativity, and a Changing World."
